First foray into this section for me, and I have a question for all of the knowledgeable members here....

I picked up a PAM 092 Arktos next door and really like the piece.

Other than softening the harsh edges on the bezel points and the buckle, what other mods would you make to enhance it? The crown guard/lever definitely seems to be lacking, so I guess that is a place to start- how would I go about it with this one?

Thanks to everyone that replies!

If you haven't already, PLEASE glue the N,S,E,W and squares on the bezel. I think there are more PAM arktos with missing bezel markers than ones with the full set. I believe there is a tutorial somewhere on the site.

Some more good info here. I really appreciate it. I figured I would have to do something with the bezel markers (besides polishing off the sharp edges- they are really "grabby").

A big concern I have is with how "loose" the lever is on the crown guard, and how to give the crown a little bit more resistance (I guess) against the lever to keep it from coming undone and flopping around while I am wearing it.

If you remove the crown and CAREFULLY sand down the feet you can get the CG as tight as you want. ;) I did the same thing to my 194. I actually put some sand paper around a can of spray paint as the radius is similer to the watch feet and ran the CG back and forth while testing the fit over and over.

To add resistance on the lever you can also add a small piece of tin can to the crown making the crown "thicker" or add a thicker gasket to the crown but be careful not to use one that is too thick or you will have no water resistance.

I have used the way described above of sanding down the cg feet with great results.

As for the bezel I would use a cape cod cloth will get rid of the sharp edges in no time. I would almost certainly glue the bezel markers down too.

Is there an "easy" way to pop the bezel off of this piece without damaging it? I am hesitant to pop it off only to tweak/bend it and not be able to get it back on.....

Great thread! I am actually analyzing these case sets for a Franken build right now. Here is what I have come up with:

1. Bezel Markers: before you reglue them polish the edges with some jewlers rouge. The reps markers are often rough edged.
2. The CG: CG is actually correct on this model. On the other NSEW bezel subs, 252 and and 186 the CG is totally wrong. They come with an A-F series contemporary CG, but it should be a G H I contempory with no rollerball. Yours is generally good, but you could try a Sead A-F CG: brush it with a 3M pad and you're good!

here's some good gen images:

Also for the resistance of the lever you can remove the pin on the CG and then add some hot glue. There's a tutorial somewhere, but it's pretty simple:

Take out the pin,
Add hot glue into the hole
Put the pin on the top,
Heat the pin so it sinks into the hole with the hot glue, pushing it out of the other side.

Another mod that's essential is to glue the markers, as other people have done.

I forgot one last thing...
The dial needs to be relumed. The GMT markers are unlumed on the rep, but lumed on the gen.
