Hey guys,
I've never left a dealer review before. I generally stick to M2M since I spend so much time there. JTime is relatively new to RWI, but has been around for a while. I've bought from a few TD's before, but haven't in quite some time.
I had the itch for something new. Not a new watch from M2M, but a nice shiny rep without any scratches or desk dives. I originally messaged Li about the Tudor GMT from ZF, but after getting one from M2M I realized that the incorrect hand stack put me off of the rep.
I really love Omegas. I've been called a Speedmaster expert. I used to use R2D4's 2500 Planet Ocean Guide religiously. I've built a few frankens, had a few gens, and usually flip them all, save my Speedy Pro. I wanted to try something new, so I asked Li about the Omega Planet Ocean with the 2836 decorated movement. Its a nice watch, but Li suggested I try the A8900 215.30.44.21.01.002 (what a reference number) I'll call it the VSF Omega 8900.
I don't argue with my butcher when he tells me which steak to buy, so I thought since I'm trying out a new TD i'll take his recommendation. QC pictures came a few hours after I asked for them. I know I got lucky there, especially with the time difference between the US and China, but still, it was quick.
Here are a few of them.
I was blown away. I can't find any issue. I Ok'd the watch and he sent it off to me. It came a few days ago via DHL and it is honestly beautiful. nicely wrapped, no flaws, perfect.
Here's the screw-up. As I was setting the time, I realized I can't change the date. When I went to quickset it, only the hour moved. I had the watch in my hand for 3 minutes and there seemed to be an issue. I sent Li a Whatsapp message and packed the watch away, sure that it was going to be 10 hours before I heard back. I was wrong. He replied after about 10 minutes and explained that this is how the gen movement works. I verified it, and he's 100% correct! This is great for me as lately I've been traveling outside my timezone, going to Hawaii or the midwest for business and family.
The A8900 movement doesn't have the best reputation, but I see no fault with it. It's about 4 seconds slow per day so far, which is just fine for me. If I want to-the-second accuracy I'll wear a quartz watch. The A8900 has extremely smooth winding, and it locks in perfectly. it is 43.5mm, which is slightly larger than the sub's I've been wearing lately, but much smaller than the Pam's I also frequent. I sized it to my 7 1/4 wrist with 7 links on the bottom, and 6 links on top. It has a micro adjustable clasp like the Omega Co-Axial 300 and is extremely comfortable on the wrist.
Through the buying process Li was extremely pleasant to talk to. I have found my new favorite TD!
