I just got the PAM 111 M noob and it is my first replica. I am a little scared to wind it. Can you over wind it and ruin the gears or does it have a slip when it is fully wound to protect it? I have been just giving it a few turns and the watch dies in the middle of the day. It doesn't seem to wind to well with wear?

The movement is handwind, so they don't wind with a rotor while wearing like an automatic movement.
Wind the 6497 untill you feel a little pressure, should wind about +\- 40 full turns and then last for about +\- 40 hours

You will know as you will feel some resistance when the spring is almost fully wound. If its a clear case back look at the gears moving and you can almost see them telling you not to wind any more! :)
