Much as I love the 44mm Luminors, I also love the more conventional case of the Radiomirs. I am however really struggling to find one in a 42/44mm case size.

Yes, of course, quite a few 44mm radiomirs were made, and not so many, but even 42mm. However, they have not been produced for a long time, despite the fact that they were the products of different factories.
Most people think of luminor when they hear about panerai, and factories don't pay that much attention to this case these days.
If you go back, you can see a lot of great 44mm radiomirs like PAM288, PAM183, PAM346 and many others, but today you have to look for all this in m2m.
