Why "PAM" and not "PAN"

Since it's PANerai, why is it referred to as "PAM"?

I've done a ton of research on PAMs lately due to an upcoming (now postponed) project I was gonna undertake..

basically

PAnerai Model

get it? ^^ pam111, etc
