WHY IS MY DSN TI PAM NOT WORKING???

Hello.

I have a long story that I am going to withhold until Davidsen replies to my email but in short:

I purchased an unbranded Ti Pam from DSN and its beautiful. Unfortunately, when I took it out of the box, it wasnt running
My simple question is how do I know for sure the movement is dead? Am I supposed to do something to the watch to get it working? I am new to rep watches but he said it was an swiss eta movement and it does say "swiss" stamped on the back. I think it may possibly be his swan neck movement? Do I need to wind the crown or something?

ps. the odd thing is when I pull the crown out to adjust the time, it starts working! :?: And then a few seconds later, it stops working. Then when I push the crown back in, it starts working again for a few seconds and stops again

Is this PAM DOA?

i dont know what to think about your posting.

i simply think you are trying to make a fool out of everybody in here.

you buy a 400 $ watch ....and you dont know that you have to wind it ?

did you ever buy a gun and return it because it wouldnt shoot.....and there you found out that you have to load it first ?

shit...i bought a high performance sport car - it won't run !! what i have to fuel it up ?? Bummer !

To be honest I did not know that I needed to wind the watch a bunch of times. My question was serious. I have never owned a watch that needed to be winded. Wasnt trying to make fun of you guys or anything, really. Thanks for the tip. I think of some of you take this hobby a little too seriously

Don't be such pricks. Do we (noobs) have to ask everything in the no-flame zone in order not to get whacked? (Although your answers were kind of fun, especially that rainbow stuff. But I was expecting one saying "What, I buy a $400 watch and batteries are not included?")

well I've heard there are no 'stupid' questions, so obviously it must be your first manual wind watch...how many in the peanut gallery have replaced a mainspring??

So is the watch working now???

Fool on the Hill. :D

i still dont believe his story....he knows Davidsen....and picks a nice modded Pam without knowing it needs to be wound ?

i mean if he says...well, i walked down Canal Str. - never dealt with watches....and i saw a watch for 50 $ i bought ....now....it does not run, no idea

what movement it has.....that would be a diffrent story.

anyways....now he knows and can try it out.....

I have to admit, the rainbows comment made me laugh at myself.
Yes, I know a little bit about replicas but Im still trying to learn. I am good at doing research and I stumbled upon DSN unbranded watches from Old Skools photo threads. I own a BKmariner and a 253 PAM. This is my first winding watch.

Well I guess everyone has to start somewhere.

Guess we just found it a little funny that you found Davidson and spent some serious cash on one of his PAMs without knowing that it needs to be wound.

Good luck and enjoy your purchase.

well, if this is all true....he is one lucky guy.

my first few reps....were cheapest asian crap.

i wish i would have started with a DVSN rep....would have saved me lots of money....and headache !

now enjoy the watch....and next time, read and gather info....before you jump.

good luck !

It is possible that it is his first manual winder. He may have thought that it was an auto, like his others. It is possible! Hard to believe that the lack of a rotor didn't give him any clue, but still possible. Therefore, I am going to buy his story, and apologize for the rude comments. Welcome to your first 6497-1. Sorry that we were so hard on your beaver, while popping your cherry!

welcome to the forum, i see you have met some of the guys. lol

about your watch, yes sir, you have to wind it. i wind mine everyday until it stops winding. just lightly wind the crown with your finger and thumb and when it is fully wound the crown will stop turning. just don't grab it tightly and forcefully turn it. you will know when it is fully wound. i can't remember how much power reserve it will have but hopefully one of the pam gurus will chime in and tell us.

enjoy your new watch

hk

by the way, the rainbow comment was funny. lol

No ones feelings got hurt. I am enjoying this watch so much. Here are some photos with custom strap from Tootall.

That is a very sophisticated choice for a first manual wind Pam and that strap looks great on it. The photos make me want one just like it.

Consider this your "hazing" to get into the club. Welcome to RWI.
