Why don't the reps have roller bearings?

I was looking in the watch section of Selfridges in London today - for those of you close enough to have a look, they've just got their allowance of panerais and have a large selection.

I couldn't see a single one without a roller ball on the crown guard lever.

It seems an obvious flaw on the reps that they don't have them. I have a PAM 104 "ultimate" which is very very close to the original - apart from the roller bearing. Its the first thing that gives it away as a rep.

Does anyone offer a mod to add a roller bearing? If the rep factories in China are listening - start adding them please!

Roller Ball CGs just started being used with "K"(2008) series PAMs, I think. There might be some "J" series with them as well. Most of the reps currently offered are of models prior to the "K" series. So, you should be ok with your 104. Although, I think T4D has a couple with roller cgs.

So my 104 is an L series - and the L series in the shop had roller bearings.

Too bad T4D is out of that watch. Tried to buy one this week but he's sold out of that model. I'd get it, roller ball or no. I thought RollerBall was movie with James Caan.

T4D has a black face version too. Rightkerfuffle is getting one and I'll take a look. The date looks very sunken which puts me off a little...nice watch though.
