Why do many of the AP reps have these two (welding?) marks on the back?

Someone on the forum says they have them on the gen ones too but I find that very hard to believe.
The two next to the crown you mean? They're there on gen as well, at least on the YG ones I've seen. Stamps of some sort.

Why dont you contact AP CEO and ask them....
Noone here controls AP design... all precious metal watches have similar stamp, Rolex has them too... no big deal... you'll never see it 95% of the time....

These marks called hallmarks, are legally required in many places and provide assurance to the buyer that they are purchasing genuine and accurately described precious metals.
Take a closer look at every brands, Cartier, Tiffany, Van Cleef & Arpels etc. They all have it.

I guess one of them is the hallmark of the noble metal and the other one is the responsibility mark of the maker.
