I just got two of them, and they are on active listings too. Both for the same seller and same item (but different listing) Before that, I got one for another item too.

Do you think sellers are shilling bids to find out what your max bid is and then going back to you with a second chance offer?

If it is something the seller only have one of, he is probably driving up bids hoping the item will sell for more. If you don't keep bidding, then they may offer it to you for your highest bid.

If it is something they may have more than one of, they may offer it to you to without having to relist the item.

I just avoid the offers and wait for them to relist it.

well, I checked into the seller and he's not a scammer, maybe just questionable selling practises. The seller is quite well known for a certain type of bracelet plus he's gotten quite alot of followers. Probably about 50 sales every two weeks.

Just thought it was a bit odd to get two second chance offers on still active listings. (both listings were from different bidders, so it wasn't like the bidder accidentally made the bid and retracted.)

well if I were the seller it would mean this:

I have tons of the crap I'm selling.
I'll accept just about any offer.
It's all about volume, not about how much I can get per item.
I'm making a huge profit so I don't care, I just want to sell more.

yup, I believe it pretty much boils down to that. Deceptive yes, but pretty ingenious, I'd say.

I didn't take him up on the offer, as my bid for another bracelet went all the way through to the end and I paid up for that. He probably did a second chance offer on the bidder below me too.

I'd put money down right now saying he did.
pretty standard business practice really.
