Anyone? Who did you get yours from- I'm thinking of Davidsen but haven't heard back from him. What leather strap did you put on it? What movement has yours got? Give me all the info...... :)
Any pics to excite me?
cheers

If you are looking for the best of the best, then you want to look for an old case that will accept a 7753 movement. Then plan to replace the movement, datewheel, lume it, and put a nice strap on it.
I had a 188 with perfect lume, a 7753, a gen crocodile strap on a gen deployant. It was about as good as it gets.

I have a 250 and a 196.

The 250 comes with Swiss ETA 7750, Lello DW, raised DW mod, Vac lume, double AR coating, and Gunny strap.

The 196 comes with old case, Swiss ETA 7753, Lello DW, Vac lume, and Gunny strap.

Both have just been fully serviced and are fighting for time on my wrist. Along with my modded PAM111 they're my absolute favourite PAMs! :)

Old style case has thicker bezel and also some of the retainer ring does not accomodate pusher at 10 o clock so it needs to be modified. Yes, it is already rare on the market. Maybe you can enquire with King? She has it not too long ago.

Here's mine:

Here's the list of mod you can do:
1. Change movement to ETA7753
2. Relume dial and hands
3. Change crown to T48 (on mine is still T60, I swapped it some time ago).
4. Flatten and tighten CG pin.
5. Datewheel, you need lello's help but he no longer makes them. I am thinking of stickers on top of the old datewheel.

If budget is limited:
1. Change crown
2. Flatten CG and tighten it.
3. Relume hands only
4. Use stickers datehwheel to take care of recessed date.

Keep watching the member trades section. Every now and then one comes up for sale. I have an old case that I may let go at some stage, and it would take a 7753. But at the moment I'm keeping it just in case (no pun intended)... If I sell it you'll be the first one to know.

To get it lumed, Vacuum is your man. He'll take care of the dial and hands in no time and it'll look awesome. The DW upgrade, and the rising of the datewheel in a 7750 (you don't need to raise it in a 7753), are trickier. Francisco was considering offering the 7750 sunken DW fix as a mod. You may want to ask him. Some watchmakers may also do it for you. Just ask around. IMO if you have a 7750 version you must do something about those awful sunken DWs... It just looks terrible and a new DW or overlay alone won't do. It's the number 1 mod in my book. Here's Francisco's original thread: viewtopic.php?f=224&t=53871&hilit=sunken

As for the actual DW and/or overlays, same as the case... you have to keep your eyes open and wait till something comes up. If I sell my case I would probably sell it with a 7753 Lello DW, so no problem there. Otherwise, I can get you in touch with a guy who's about to start printing brand new full DWs like Lello's for 7750 and 7753. Just PM me.

One more thing... When you change the movement from a 7750 to a 7753, you may find that the DW in the 7753 is larger than the 7750, so it'll be half cut out in the date window on the old dial (it's too far to the right). A fix is to replace the dial, or the assembly of the DW so that you install a 7750 DW on the 7753 movement. That's what I ended up doing and the DW is perfectly centred now. A good watchmaker will take care of all of that for you. The trick, of course, is finding one!

Good luck! :)

So, I just bought a modded 250 from Vac, I do need however to do the DW mod, raise and change the wheel. Who can help me? I asked Francisco but he isn't doing the mod for people. Anyone else can raise the DW? I haven't received the 250 from Vac yet, but I will post pics as soon as i get it

You can get "old style" case 250 from T4D/PWC. As far as fixing the date wheel, if you can't find a Lello DW you will have to get a Leo (RG) DW and have Francisco mod done to make it flush.

Either what? Old style case 250 - send a PM to Time4Direct on this forum. Leo date wheel - you will have to wait for RepGeek to come back up, unless he's also on this site.

sorry I meant the Lello DW or the Leo DW. But this won't fix the face that it is recessed. Will it?

Thanks for the compliments!

To ballinonabudget,
Correct. 7750 version still recessed, doesn't matter which DW it is, unless doing the Francisco DW mod.
7753 will not have any recessed issue.
