Hey gentlemen,

Who here has a Pam 088? I'm trying to decide between the 088, the 089 and the 063. They're all so close, but I was wondering if anyone felt there was anything that made one model stand out and push ahead of the others. I'd also like to know if the silver subdial on the 088 has piepans like the gen does.

Thanks a lot, guys!

There are ridges, but maybe not as pronounced as the gen. But it does look like an LP even though they are hard to see.

The face is a little busy and I prefer the 237 with black sub-seconds dial myself - and so does my girlfriend.

Oh man, that's a beautiful watch, Guru

When I say "piepan", I'm referring to the concentric rings on the subdial. Not all gen subdials have them, but many of them do.

I noticed that you have one with a black subdial, and I've seen it that way and with a silver subdial--does anyone know if both of these are correct, or if one is a fantasy?

Thanks, everyone!

My fiend...the watch is blue and it shines black or blue in the light....It is a fantasy watch, Panerai did a Blue GMT but the print on the face is different. It is called the Luminor GMT Firenza, Special edition 2005, PAm000258.

So the printing is different, it says: LUMINOR Firenze GMT

But who cares? How many people in the world know Panerai? And how many know this printing is not right.

Anyhow....you can get this watch at our dealers in blue and black.

You can't make anything wrong with the 088.

After looking around a little more, I actually found that the Pam 237, which the other gentleman above wrote about, looks almost exactly like your fantasy 088 with black subdial. It's hard to find much info about it as Panerai doesn't seem to have published anything on it, but they definitely did make it. There's a small difference in the way that the "Swiss Made" text is done on the dial, and of course the gen has a line at 9:00.

i've both the 88 and 89.

review of the 88:
http://replica-watch.info/forum/viewtop ... highlight=

the 89 is basically the same as the 88 but with a titanium case and an anthracite grey dial. there's no SN on the caseback on the 89 which is actually CORRECT for the pam89 shadow case. (shadow cased pams are those that were made for display. there was one sold on VP a while ago.)

lume is good on both. casework is excellent on both. date mag is decent. the 88 and 89 gmts are so good that i'm planning to get a 89 with a blue dial.

no AR on both but i don't think it's essential.

@azglav nice shots and great watch. Whoever said that most people are not aware of panerai is right. Not mnay have but the fan base is growing. Panerai watches are about the coolest thing to happen to time pieces in the last 50 years. They are simply magnificent watches. Their allure and growing popularity can be explained in the timeless classic design the panerai watch exhibits with an elegant line to fashion. Hard to beat and oh so addicting. You gotta love it!

Does the Pam 088 only come with the old 7750?

Looking on Andrew's website, I'm only seeing the 088 with the older Asian 7750, and I don't know if I want to be buying those--I've heard mostly bad things about them, especially compared to the new 7750 @ 28,800. Is there a source for Pam 088s with the new movement?

I used to own the 088 too. And now "upgraded" to 089 Ti, grey dial. Both is using the same hi beat rate movement. No worry on that part. Lume is a decent standard lume rep. Go for it!

I want them all!

I used to not have any in terest in Panerai, it's amazing how they can take over. There's just something about them...

Takashi, are you sure they're both the new hi-beat movements? Looking at EL's page and Josh and Andrew's, they all seem to say that the 088 with silver dial is only available with the older movement. If that's the case--have anyone of you have any problems with this movement? Most of my fears stem from the quality issues I read about in Ziggy's column, and the general warm embrace of the new 28K movementt. What do you guys think?

Thanks, you guys are extremely helpful! This forum is like a second home.

@trekracer: I am sure of that. The GMT reps using Asian7750 is all hi beat rate.

Is there a difference between the Panerai GMT watches offered by Andrew/Joshua and the ones offered by EL?

My is 28.800 and i got it from PT. Depending where you live, I would select the dealer.

Azgjav, where did you get your 088 and 089? They're probably the same from all dealers, but your pics are really, really nice.

Looking at River's page, I see that both his 88 and 89 are ti, but the 88 should not be ti should it? I thought this model was only made in SS. There are way too many variations on this model!
