Hi,
I have been searching for a pam187 for a while. Tried to get a used one but they only come every couple month on RWI. Now I am also considering buying a new one.
Found two different ones priced at $268 and $430. Can not afford the $430 one. For those who bought the $268 one, how do you like it? Is it good quality? How accurate is its timekeeping? Is it reliable?

Thank you very much for taking time helping me.

Hi el34han
Fortunately, you are talking about a very good rep.
The only difference you have is that the "cheap" replica is fitted with A7750 chrono movement (like the 99% of the chrono rep) and the expensive ones are fitted with A7753, a very expensive movement which allows the date adljustment @10. This is the only difference. You can buy it the cheaper with confidence. (obviusly you will not have the date adjustment @10 and you will must do it via crown.

Below some information about PAM 187

PAM 187 SUBMERSIBLE CHRONO 1000m
The gen PAM 187 was a Unique Special Edition of 1000 pieces in 2004, one year truly prolific in these runs and especially as relates to submersibles. It is a stunning watch made of brushed SS 47mm and He valve. For the first time appears in the line Submersible the Chrono function (movement OP XII) with threaded pushers ensuring waterproof 1000 meters...a true instrument!
The reps PAM 187 come with either A7750 or A7753 movement and have an impressive replica quality. The A7750 reps have non working date adjustment @10, and you will have to do it via crown. The A7753 have working date adjustment @10.
The replicas fitted by A7753 (with working date adjustment @10) are Super reps. We can consider the A7750 very good quality reps or even First Class reps if you can live with the non working pusher @10.
The PAM 187 is very big and has a very Sub style but it can be considered like good candidate for a first replica.

There are more differences, like the sunken date-wheel and the bad lume on the cheap ones. Downside of the ultimate is the date adjustment at 10 o'clock which can break easily. Better take some more time and save some more money to buy the latest ultimate one. It's definitely worth the extra $$.

I must admit that I was under the impression that there were several differences other than the mvt.

Hi Rob and trksh
Yes !! of course you are completely right about sunken date and the lume... and maybe the crystal, the working of the bezel...and some other constructive details are different too. I know it, of course
But I think this was not the question for the O.P. (el34han) with his restricted budget. I'm sure the A7750 with sunken date and poor lume or construction details is not a problem for el34han.

I would spend the extra cash and get the Ultimate version if I were you, worst thing is to buy and inferior version and go thru the hastle of trying to sell it off.

I've sold every PAM i've ever owned, and I still have my 187 if that tells you anything.

Ultimately its your money and you will spend what you are comfortable with, im sure in the end you will make the best decision.

Here's a couple of pics to hold you over until you make up your mind.

Worst part of the watch is the crappy lume and pearl is wrong, easily fixed by a modder.

Hi friends
Of course the expensive ultimate is better rep.
I myself would buy the expensive one instead of the "cheaper" version. Because we are always looking for the best rep without budget restrictions. So there ¡s no discussion about: the expensive is the best and I would buy the expensive one.

But OP is just asking us if the cheaper version is a good rep. And the anwser is:
IT IS A FIRST CLASS REP and a good purchase for the price, and the best choice with a restricited budget

Of course the expensive is better and has some advantages.

Just my opinion

Thank you all for your input. I will consider them all.
I agree if I had the money I will go for the better one like many of you suggested. For now I can live with some missing of construction details, as long as it keeps relative good time (+- 30 seconds per day) and does not break within a year. Just like ALE7575 said with my limited budget I have to give up on some details. But if it is totally not reliable, that will be a major issue. Does the cheaper one meet my "lowered" standard?
Thanks.

It would be nice if you could see in hand at least one of them. The "old" one is not that bad, especially if you are starting the game.

NO!

Stop!

Do not order the old version. It is crappy compared to the new one. Trust me. I used to have the old one. The numbers loosen, the sunken datewheel is a pain in the ass to look at, it just looks and feels CHEAP. The new one is... hmm, 15 times better. At least. I would not spend 100 usd on the old one.

Wait. Be patient. Maybe you´ll find one for about 100 usd more than the old one. It´s so worth it. The two watches do not compare. I do not understand what people are saying here. The differance is HUGE!

I love my new one. I love the old one too, on account of the design, but I barely wore it, worried about loose bezel-numbers. It feels more rattly.

This is something I feel strongly about. I would not recommend the old one to anyone.

Get the new one. Period.
