47's are huge. Go with a base 44. Read ALES guide and you won't go far wrong.

Can't motivate you strong enough to try using the Pam Guide. Give yourself a couple of hours to go through it once. And then go back and read it again with more of an idea of what you want.

Just go to Panerai AD in your town and try all available models and make your choice. Than buy selected rep from TD here ;)

Please spare the poor gen dealer - You are not buying from him anyway. It does not matter what Panerai You buy - either You like them and You will end up with three, seven, twelve or You don´t - and for that "try-out-purpose" one, any of them, is enough. If You want to do it the hard way: read Ale´s PAM guide before You buy. If You want to do it the nice and leisurely way: read it afterwards:) Most of mine are old and second tier, as You can´t buy them all, I love/use them none the lesser
Or just dive into the fascinating history of the brand: http://paneraiworld.blogspot.com.es/
