Whats with the old case 196 and the 26mm lugs?

Ok, can someone tell me why the old case 188 and 196 have 26mm lugs when they should have 24mm? Is this just a total screw up by the factory?
I bought an old case 196 today and the seller is telling me it has a 26mm strap on it???
Is it a factory screw up, or is he mistaken?

I used to have 2 pold cases, a 196 and a 250 and both came with 24mm never heard about 26 mm :!:

Just because he has a 26mm strap on it, doesn't mean it has 26mm lugs....

I had an old case 196 and it definitely had 24mm lugs.

Definitely the lug size on all 196 is 24mm. I have seen few puts 26mm strap on 24mm lug size.

Thanks guys... Ive been looking for a good deal on one of these and finally found one. I thought that this was some kind of super mistake or something. He must have just squeezed a 26mm strap in it.

The planets must be in alignment today... The watch arrived at 10am and it is indeed an old case 196 with 24mm lugs. At the very same time I received my Ted Su 24mm Dive Strap and buckle. I ordered this strap from Ted on Saturday, he shipped it Monday and I received it Wednesday morning... THAT is service!!!
I will get some pics up later and then she is off to the watchmaker for its heart transplant.
