So, I'm not a watch guy. I have a few, and I wear what I like, but I don't really know the history behind a lot of the watch guy culture and can't seem to find this via search here or the google. Got a PAM111 replica that I like a lot and now that I have something not on a bracelet I'm always looking out for interesting straps, so now I am wondering how the ammo straps trend got started.
Can anyone point me to the history of the recycled leather strap? I kind of like the irony of a Panerai costing a few thousand dollars or more on a strap from the leather of a discarded piece of gear, the look is cool, and all that, but the trope seems a lot deeper than that.
