I have recently acquired a genuine unworn Panerai Kodiak PRE-V strap from the 90's. Now the question is do I keep it and acquire a 5218 rep from David san to put the strap on or do I sell it to fund some other rep purchases?. From looking on the web these straps go from £850 to £1500 are they realistic figures?.

Underside will tell you if it is "real" vintage model. There is lots of "2nd gen" of these straps that were made quite recently. I'm no true expert but I've been warned about these.

DSN does not offer any longer the model you want, eventually you can find it (rarely) in m2m section.

Figures are right for a gen strap but although I'm no expert either this does not look gen to me. The horizontal stitching near the buckle did not go all the the way to the edge of the strap afaik. Hard to see details with these low res pics.
here is a gen PAV90 sold by vannic on 'risti

Im waiting for the strap to arrive so will post better pics upon arrival

i see what you mean regarding the stitchin, more research required

this strap is for sale on Chrono 24 which is very very similar https://www.chrono24.co.uk/panerai/b...-id4073383.htm

He does as I contacted him recently

Strange..
I have spoken as well recently (>1 month) with him (e-mail) and he told me he was not making anymore the models he used to but that he can source all the reps that other dealers carry If I wanted.

Tnx for letting me know.

I had the same information. I struggled a lot to get my last pre-V CG from him.

The last time I asked him was the 19th November.... hopefully he can still supply them?

I don't know my inquiry was a while ago but he said no more so I thought he meant just that, no more. Maybe he changed his plans

Hmm I am intrigued as well. Although technically, there are only two options, keep or not keep. Just follow what you feel is right. Still the reasons for selling it might be compelling. :)

if I can get a pre v replica I will keep it for that, need to speak to Davidsen I think :)

Apparently the difference between the original pre v strap and the dirk is the size of the tang, the original was slightly longer. The value of this strap is around $300-400 so still a decent value
