What to do with this cheap PAM196?

So a couple years ago I got my very first rep from some local dude on craigslist, a Pam196 Daylight. I really loved this watch, it looked good, kept good time, etc. I quickly found these rep sites and realized I had found something that wasn't exactly quality, but whatever, it worked for me, and I got plenty of compliments on it. After pretty steady wrist time, the 21j in it just stopped working... around the same time, I noticed the small hand on the chrono @ 3 had mysteriously disappeared. I'm still not sure what happened to it, I never opened the case back or anything until recently, and am wondering if it maybe fell through the date window somehow and jammed things up.

At any rate, here we are a few years later, and I'm staring at this thing, and wondering if there's anything I can do with it. The dial and hands are whatever, I'm wondering more if there's anything I can do with the case, since it seems to be of fairly solid construction, and it looks pretty good when compared to some of the better reps. At least to my untrained eye. I'm not that worried about it being a perfect 1:1 match, just wondering if it's possible to buy a new dial, movement, some hands, and put it all together. I'm clearly still a noob, but I don't mind taking this bad boy apart and learning something new.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

Thanks all!

In the case of the older 21j reps, they will not fit an A7750 movement. The 7750 sits too high in the case and the stem won't line up to the movement through the crown tube. The movement holder for a7750 will need to be turned down a few thousands to fit in the case and the crown tube will need to be modified.

Best bet bet find a new 21j and matching hands if you want to use that case. 7750 hands do not fit a 21j.

Ahh, well that's disappointing to hear! I was hoping I'd have some new fun stuff to tinker with. I suppose I can still disassemble this bad boy and put it back together with a new 21j.

Is ofrei the place to go for those types of things? Any idea on how to find which model 21j is in this watch, or is it just safe to assume that it's a 2813? Also, does anyone have any ideas on where to get replacement hands for this thing?

Thanks!

The missing small hand maybe fell through the date window and may be the cause of the movement not working. Since the dial and movement are out of the case maybe you can shake the hand loose...tap it on the table a few times.

The funniest thing.. I took it apart just now after I made that post.. I was dead set on dismantling the entire movement just to figure it out. Sadly, the center screw was too shallow for my screwdriver to fit in there. So I put the crown back in, and holy shit, things started moving again! I still don't see the little second hand, and I gave it a good few whacks and shook it around.

It's all back together and running like a champ now! Haha. Guess I'll just keep it as is! :D
