What Makes a noob rep better then a canal street 100$ rep?

Hello, I have several canal street reps of the black sub. What makes the noob and other reps worth so much more. My only complaint with the canal eros is they tend to tarnish over time. The metal case dulls. Does this not happen with 300$ reps?

I even once held my canal rep next to a friends gen and we couldn't tell the difference.

Then you are indeed fortunate that you don't have to spend any more.

Not sure which sub you're speaking to from Canal street. Perhaps the newest ceramic? Or the classic 16610?

There are many things that are improved over the canal street rep I purchased some time ago. Keep your canal street rep close and look at some threads on here..

Here's a good one to start with. http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php?t=176851

You are leading a happier life than many of us here.................:hehehe:

IMO, quality and finishing is the difference.

Generally I think the Canal Street ones tarnish because the cases are chrome over brass and the plating wears through.

Hopefully a year from now you'll look back at this post and realize how silly it is.

The difference is in the details.

If you are holding a canal street rep next to a gen and cant tell the difference - then you really should not be buying the 300+ models as it would literally be throwing your money away. And i do not mean that as an insult in any way. There are a plethora of members who scrutinize every detail of a watch in comparison to the genuine. Lug Spacing, AR, Crown guard widths, bezel numbers, bezel pearl, second hand sweeping motion, material of the case, and this is to just name a few.

With so many members modding their watches or getting a TC submariner and adding gen parts, there must be a reason for this right? Its because the basic rep just does not hold up to par with the genuine. (As far as we are concerned) but If you are happy with your canal street rep, wear it and save your money.

Once you hand out here for a while, and start reading all of the reviews that members right comparing the smallest little detail, you might see that yours now needs an upgrade, or you might still feel like yours is just fine. At the end of the day, its just a matter of preference.

If you need a head start, post a picture of your watch and the Rolex gurus will let you know what is wrong or inaccurate.

A lot of things most of us take for granted now really. Things like solid 316L steel, AR'd cyclops, superlume, real ceramic - all of which we accept as the absolute bare minimum for a decent rep. Add onto that things like genuine parts interchangeability, the superior fit and finish, and just generally the extremely high level of replication, and you get your higher cost.

I too started out with canal street reps, struggling to spot the difference between reps and gens, but after some time of the boards, I realised how well replicated some watches are.

Tbh your post is a good reminder to everyone that the miniscule flaws we all nitpick over goes pretty much unnoticed by most people (99% rule)

And no one has even mentioned the difference between a well made rep with a decent Eta/ or clone/ or even a relatively well made DG movement compared to the $5 movements found in most Canal St. reps.

I'm glad someone brought up the movements..Big difference right there, maybe the most important difference.

Oh man. I remember when I didn't know better. I gotta say ignorance is bliss but there's no telling how many people laughed to themselves when they saw my $20 sub with the printed rehaut.

if you can't tell the difference, just live that way. Do not go down the rabbit hole. You'll save yourself a lot of money.

Thank you for the responses. Would I be correct in saying if I bought a noob v3 it would not tarnish in a year?

It's all in the details....stay on the forum, and you'll learn more about those details...and I bet a Canal Street watch will never be viewed the same way again. Good luck!

LOL... You are correct. A Noob V3 will not tarnish like the Canal Street garbage. Ever. It's solid stainless steel.

Thanks guys for the responses. My big fear of jumping into a more expensive replicas is fear that they won't last any longer then the cheapos rom canal street. I'm glad to hear that is not true.

I've seen this a lot, and there's been more and more talk about it lately too. A lot of Gen owners wouldn't have a clue if they had a gen or a replica on their wrist. They just know the name, Rolex. They have no idea what to look for. I read a post a few weeks ago where someone with a gen sub asked one of our members what the bezel was for. , so theydon't even know what the functions of the watches are for. It's just the name that they want.

So, I can understand that your friend nor you cannot tell the differences between his gen and your cheap rep. Just spend some time on the site here doing some reading. Take a look at some of the comparison threads too, and I do agree with KBH, in a year from now if you're still here, you would be laughing at this post. but I understand where you're at because I was there too once.

and if you buy a rep from one of our dealers it is never going to tarnish because it is made out of 316 stainless steel. Now if you're talking about a gold rep. They are gold plated. The plating is much better than it was even just a few years ago, but still it is just plated, so it can be scratched off, but they are very durable, much more durable than before.

yes, and please post a pic of your canal st. rep, and your friend's gen too if you can.
