A friend of mine is asking about what kind of ETA7750 is that. It looks kinda strange. It's jeweled a little bit different that your standard ETA7750 and also it seems to be decorated rather nicely.

7750: automatic, day, date
7751: automatic, day, date, month, moon phase
7753: automatic, date. minute counter at 3h instead 12h
7754: automatic, date, dual time 24h
7758: automatic, date, moon phase
7760: manual wind, day, date
7761: manual wind, day, date, month, moon phase
7765: manual wind, date, no hour counter
7768: manual wind, date, moon phase
7750: automatic, split second, date hand at 3h

I highly doubt that you can determine anything based on the back of the movement

However I would like to know how one can determine grade of the movement?

Ohhh, and there is always a possibility that this is not a pure breed 7750 but it's modification by some watch making company

No, no. I know it's a 7750, I just too a snap from the back so people can say what kind of grade/type it is. Other than the modifications done to it, it's just a simple 6,9,12 layout A7750

It's not a chronometer grade since it would have a glucydur balance wheel, but I don't remember the specs of the top grade, so it can be either elaborated or top (no standard grade on the 7750).

Unfortunately you can't tell by the decoration, as you can choose the grade apart from the decoration, but the decoration is sure very nice.

Shamelessly stolen from watchtalkforums. Hopefully it will help you. Here is link

Standard
- adjusted in 2 positions: CH and 6H (click HERE for details on positional timekeeping terminology)
- average daily rate: +/- 12 seconds
- maximum positional variation: 30 seconds
- isochronism between 0 and 24 hours: +/- 20 seconds

Elaboré
- adjusted in 3 positions: CH, 6H, 9H
- average daily rate: +/- 7 seconds
- maximum positional variation: 20 seconds
- isochronism between 0 and 24 hours: +/- 15 seconds

Top
- adjusted in 5 positions: CH, FH, 6H, 9H, 3H
- average daily rate: +/- 4 seconds
- maximum positional variation: 15 seconds
- isochronism between 0 and 24 hours: +/- 10 seconds

Chronometre
- adjusted and timed per COSC specification (see above link under Standard) which is not much different from Top Grade

There are also upgraded parts made with different alloys and materials in the higher grades. The Standard and Elaboré calibers use Etachoc shock protection, a nickel balance wheel with a Nivarox 2 alloy hairspring, a Nivaflex NO mainspring, a steel pallet lever and escape wheel, and polyruby pallet jewels. The Top and Chronometre calibers use Incabloc shock protection, a Glucydur balance wheel with an Anchron alloy hairspring, a Nivaflex NM mainspring, a Nivarox pallet lever and escape wheel, and ruby pallet jewels.

So I'm guessing this one is either Top or Chronometre grade. I just noticed that Hublot uses the exact same movement. Especially the way it is jewelled

This is not true for the 7750. All grades use inabloc, and I'm not sure the top grade has a glucydur balance wheel.

Well, I quoted whatever I found. There is link to the original source of information.
By the way, could someone take a look at sticky "ETA movement Data". I sourced some information and put it there. But seeing that it might be not correct I would like someone to doublecheck it to avoiding misleading information.

More like elaborated or top actually, since it has a nickel balance wheel. Chronometer has a Glucydur balance wheel.

I've never seen a Chronometre grade 7750. Got a pic Wiz? Google is useless when searching for it

Then the movement my friend has there is probably a highly decorated Top grade. It looks different though. It is nicely decorated

You can get the lowest grade with the most expensive decoration. Would you know the maker and model by nay chance?

I'm after a confirmed pic of a top grade 7750 but I can't find one.

When I sourced ETA for my Breitling it was claimed to have glucydur balance. Wondering if I got chrono grade in my rep. That would be funny. But don't want to open it to verify.

But that's the thing. Even the Breitling B13's don't have this type of decoration. This is the first time I see one of those in the wild outside of a watch. At one point I thought only Hublot did this kind of decorations and jewelling but I guess not.

Hardly so. As far as I know the chronometre grade 7750s go for over 1k straight from ETA

Well, options are - either I got Chrono grade, either other grades have glucydur balance or I was lied to and my movement does not have glucydur. I personally would like it to be the first case :)

There are many different decorations available from ETA. The file containing them all was su^pposed to be there: http://www.eta.ch/d/produkte/mecaline_sp/pdf/ETA_7750_7751_7753_7754.pdf
But it's gone.

Not to forget that companies like Sellita or Soprod used to make additional decorations on ETA movements.

Hardly so. As far as I know the chronometre grade 7750s go for over 1k straight from ETA

What would you say about this

I highly doubt this is done by ETA
