It took me some time to fully understand what SEL was back in the day, and it's a question most often asked when new reps are released - particularly of rolex. Thought this might be of some use to new members here.

SEL = Solid End Link

The illustration should be self-explanatory

Also note that SEL are as it says, solid, rather than hollow as per older Rolex.
Non SEL can be as tight to the case as SELs depending on quality.

Thanks for The info all we newbies don't know some terms or abbreviation used here like LEC I still don't know what it means Lol

The past few days I've actually been wondering what 'SEL' was. It takes a while to get to know all the terms especially when English isn't your native language. Anyway I was to lazy to google it :p. Thanks for the info!

Gaps are one thing but all noobs before v6s versions had nasty rounded edges there so even if metal on metal was tight, the roundness made it look terrible. I'd say all frankens before v6s versions are ruined by this.

Great post sel and lec.
Would love to see a post on stem height and crown guard.
I see a lot of post about switching to gen stem and crown for this but just don't "get it" or see a difference
