What if I am not home when EMS delivers?

I am about to place a rep order that will be shipped with EMS, but I am leaving on vacation in four days... I know they deliver to the door, but where will it go if no one is there to claim it? Post office? Mail Box?

I would prefer to place the order sooner rather than later, otherwise I would wait until I am back to order.

Thanks

Hmm it depends I guess.

Last time EMS came my mailman left the box at my front door. I do live in a very safe building and it would be very surprising if someone from my building stole anything. However, this morning EMS was delivered by another postal worker not my usual mailman and he rang the door bell and asked me to sign a receipt. So I guess it can vary.

Usually they're sent signature required. If your postman is cool he might leave it (or if you have a locked mailbox they will, I've never signed for any of the EMS packages I've received).

If you're not there and they don't leave it, expect a call tag telling you which post office you have to go pick it up at.

Where are you based? I'n in UK and depending who takes over they might:

1- attempt a redelivery
2- drop off at a depot
3- drop off at a local post office

For me they were kind enough to drop at my local post office

Two times they delivered to out house and no one was home they took the parcel back to the post office and left a note on the front door. Other thing you could do is put a hold on your mail/parcels while you are away, it would be retained at the post office then.

In US, EMS turns into USPS once it clears customs. At that point they will try to deliver, but someone has to accept the package. If you are not home it goes right to the post office and they leave you a note in your mailbox to pick up the parcel at their facility.

in that case, please refer to my previous statement :)

You will be fine. USPS will hold the package for you if you are not home for delivery.
They will leave you a 'we attempted to deliver' slip and then it will be held at the post office. Once you come back it will be waiting for you to pick up.

You'll get one of those annoying papers on your door that says you have a package. It's why I started having my boxes shipped to office. If I'm not there it still gets signed for and is waiting for me. Nothing worse than knowing you watch is down the road and you can't get to it for a day or two.

I'm in CONUS and it happens to me whenever I get a watch cause I'm in the office and not at home. I'll just get a delivery attempt slip. I'd have to wait a day or two and then go to the post office to get it. You'll be fine.

My local hub manager knows me and calls my cell. I guess in the beginning I bugged him a lot seeing if I could just pick it up on lunch. Crazy what a gift card last Christmas did. :)

Same thing happens here but not on purpose. Watches just suddenly show up. My kids are the ones that bust me though. They like to loudly announce "is that a new watch?" They probably googled the prices and said wtf, what about college dad?
