They are implying that it is 1 to 1 compared to the genuine as in the same as the genuine. A bold claim indeed. You will also see AAA+++ etc. It means nothing in reality. No Replica is 100% exactly like the genuine.

Kinda like counterfeit money is 1:1 to the real thing. It’s a copy but not quite the same.

A lot of the current generation of reps are so close to being identical to the gen they're copying that no one but a forensic expert could tell the difference - and they would need to get in very close to do so. So to all intents and purposes the "1:1 copy" description is true of many reps. But it's not literally true, it's just a marketing thing - and has been used as an advertising description for years to describe reps across the quality spectrum. So it's best to ignore it and do your homework.

Which dealer would you recommend for an RM rep that would be the closest to gen looking as it can get? I guess I’m just scared of being called out in public

It’s a grading system. Not to be taken literally.

1:1 basically means top tier rep.

AAA is a few tiers below and usually refers to reps in the price range: 100-200ish

“Cheapies” are a few grades below AAA.

An RM you say..? Well, in that case you just need to look and/or act like someone who can afford a watch costing several hundred thousand dollars, and no one will ever dream of demanding to know whether your watch is real.

"Getting called out in public" never happens in any case.

And any TD can get any rep. You need to head on over to the RM sub-forum and research which factory is making decent ones. I've got a ZF - it looks fine, but my RM knowledge is minimal.

If you are afraid of being called out in public, then it follows to reason that you fully intend to pass the watch off as genuine. Public reaction depends on who the members of the public are. Generally speaking, a vast majority won't know AND won't give a shit about whatever is on your wrist. Further, if someone IS interested in what's on your wrist, they are likely to be people who just like watches but still won't know the difference between the real deal and a quality replica, which is ultimately what 1:1 means - a top quality replica which a non-expert will not recognise as a replica.

Now, putting some specific context around your question, if you actually think you can pass off a replica RM as genuine to people who know and care about a RM, you are either super vain and want the kudos that comes from wearing a stupidly expensive watch but can't justify buying a watch instead of a house OR you are one dumb fuck thinking everyone around you is equally dumb. For the record, if you were to get busted trying to pass off an RM as genuine, not only would it be really, really embarrassing, one might even say it would be a character assassination. Conversely, if you were to proactively declare to anyone who shows an interest that you picked up an RM replica out of curiosity, especially since it was marketed as 1:1, you are much less likely to be the butt of the joke.

Ultimately, as stated directly above, whether you get called out or not depends on whether you present as fake or real. For 99.9% of the population, the assumption is that any Rolex they see is probably a fake watch from Turkey / Bali / KL etc and that's because of the perception of Rolex as the ultimate luxury watch - UNLESS they believe YOU are the sort who would have a real Rolex. A Rolex costs say 20k, an RM up to about 50 times that - you do the maths . Do you cut it or are you delusional ?
