Very nice combination! Give us some information...

1. Where did the watch come from?
2. What type of strap is that? Is it a TC waterproof?

:D

Agree, can't fault a BASE...especially not these days when Panerai seem to be loosing their compass 8)

Palp's crown, by any chance ?

It is a palp crown, in fact. The watch is a bit of a franken from flavor flav. The strap is a europelli shell cordovan in oxblood. (GREAT strap!)

This is the one gen I would buy. However, seeing the font on your rep I have second thoughts. I would buy that if it were readily available. The cannon pin does not looked recessed either. Or, is that just the pics? who is palp?

The pin has been fixed. The other mod done to the watch was a crown guard lever tightening. The levers on every other pam I have owed have felt flimsy once removed from the locked position. This crown lever, thanks to the mod, feels rock solid. Really makes the watch feel high quality when handling it.

Flavor flav is not a dealer, he does mods on watchs just like ziggy and rbj and vaccum. He happened to get rid of his personal collection over on TRC and thats where I picked this up.

While you can't buy watches from him directly, you can send your pams over to him to get them modded like this one.

To answer the question about palp crowns, I believe there is a member on this forum or RWG by the screen name palpatine, and he made a 1:1 copy of the 2.1mm actual panerai crown. They went for a pretty penny, and right now he's in between runs (or done permanently?) but IMHO the crownguard is SO worth the money.

It's not a difficult mod to do and its the first thing people notice when "evaluating" a pam rep.

The 112 and 176 are my favorites. Clean, simple, just works of art. I just had Flavor Flav relume and add a new cannon pin. He does great work, FYI.

Good job! The Crowngaurd bugged the hell out of me too. I knocked out the CG pin, drilled out the lever ever so slightly with a bit and pin vice, inserted a bit of plastic type tubing into the lever, and remounted the whole thing. BAM! Feels great!

*edit* forgot got to give credit - if you search the other forums there is a thread on how to do this.

I love the base more and more! I think the lack of date would bother me but I also think I could sacrafice a date if my 112 looked like yours! :D

Yes, Flav is in the US. And one other thing, you don't have to wait weeks for work to get done. I think mine was done and back in 5 days.

Nice 112H. I was looking at that one too when it was listed for sale at TRC.

But it was way over my budget.... :(

I love base :) and your watch is as good as it gets.

Only thing I would do differently is to put together an F series with painted dial.

I think it's just a matter of taste though.
