What dimension is the strap for a 177K?

I´ve ordered a Pam177L on rubber and I´m planning to get a high quality leather strap for it.

How wide must the strap be to fill the space between the lugs?
And, is it possible to remove the "Panerai" buckle from the rubber strap and put it on the leather strap instead?

24 mm

If you want to reuse the buckle, you need a strap which is tapered to 22mm ...

and it's the 177L ;)

you're not going to want to reuse the buckle that comes on the rubber.
the rubber is a tapered 24/22mm strap and the 22mm buckle is cheap, thin,
flimsy, and not really Panerai like.

I'd suggest if you're going to buy a new strap (good call) to buy a buckle
along with it. get a 24/24 strap with a titanium buckle, something nice. I, myself,
like to wear the pig buckles. and I prefer to buy mine from Heroic 18 or from
8 Artisans, depends on the mood I'm in when purchasing.

Thank you so much for the advise and for the links! :)
Now I can hardly wait untilI get the watches.
I´ll need to order at least one black and one brown strap.

There's hundreds of places that will make custom anythings and just as many that have strap/buckle combos, the buckles just screw in, like you can have 1000 of strap combos on the watch, you can change buckle/deployant whatever you want as often as you want depending on what you find and your budget.

Is the buckle that comes on the rubber different from if I order the watch on leather?

depends.

some OEM will come with a similar style buckle, some with a deployment.

no aftermarket strap will come with that buckle, unless it's some cheapo
strap for like $50 or whatever. most will all come with more substantial,
stronger and larger buckles.

OEM straps are very thin, and I really don't like that. at first I thought I
would, that I wouldn't want a thick strap, but after buying a couple OEM
straps and thinner handmade straps, I found I don't like them one bit.

Panerai's, no matter the model, are thick watches. and the strap on it
should really also be thick to compliment this. the most popular thickness
for straps I've found is right at 5mm. some like 6-7+mm, but that's
getting a bit excessive if you ask me. I think 5mm is indeed the sweet
spot, so I make all of my own straps to be 5mm.

the buckle the rep comes with is a 22mm, super thin, super flimsy, common
rep buckle. there's nothing at all special about it, and it looks very much
out of place on any aftermarket strap. unless the strap is also thin and
flimsy. which is why I'm sure all aftermarket strap makers choose to use
either their own crafted buckles or other aftermarket ones.

on my 177l, I built a 24/24 sueded black gator, 3 piece, 5mm, 130/80 strap
to be worn on it. and I have a heroic 18 titanium pig buckle to go on it.
it's going to bring the watch to a whole other level. for my brown choice
I'm going to make a same spec sueded brown shark strap.

The rep buckle is not going to be great, period.

I use aftermarket buckles, either sewn in or not, on my straps because I prefer 24x24 instead of 24x22. In fact I'm wearing my gen Panerai as I type this on a Mario Paci strap with sewn in buckle. The OEM buckle stays on the OEM rubber strap for summer duty.

Thank you, guys! :)
I guess I´m going for an after market strap, then. :)
I´m convinced.
