What causes a watch to suddenly slow?

I have an automatic Panerai rep that I am able to wind or perpetual motion. I noticed today that it was about 30 behind. This hasn't happened in over a month that I have had it. I reset it and then 4 hrs later it was another 15-20 minutes behind. Of course when I reset it and watch it it has seemed accurate for the past hour.

I am new to all this, so sorry if it is a dumb ?

Any heavily magnetized object around??

Not that I can think of. Have been wearing it for a good part of the day.

Is it possible that it stopped for a few minutes and started up again. That sounds more feasible.

I'd try leaving it face up on a table for a while and see if it stops completely. Then it won't have your wrist motion to start it back up.

I think this was a user error. I thought that I wore that watch on Thurs and Fri (thus winding it). Looking back it was not on my wrist and it was not in the winder and I never wound it. In other words it was my mistake I adjusted the time but never wound it, of course it isn't going to keep up. Duh
