It's to protect your strap from the screw. The tube goes in the strap end then you put the screw through the watch lug then tube and finally the second lug.

I'm ordering a set right now... Hopefully the tubes really work.

I'm seeing stretching on my davidsen strap lugholes, and the beginnings on my MP... krap. Not wearing until I get dem tubes 8)

dam i guess that makes sense: the excessive rubbing on the bar will wear down the leather... unless i toss the screws and go with spring bars.

The tubes protects the strap and also prevents the screws to be unscrewed. Just my SGD 0.02 worth.

if you use the spring bars they take the place of the tubes so you don't have to worry about it.

Eh?

The spring bars replace the screws, not the tubes. Unless you're implying that the spring bars rotate, reducing wear on the leather, of course.

Tubes don't fit if I use the spring bar things. Only if I use the screws - but some of the cases are shitty and (pre)stripped so I use the spring bars. If they wear down, they wear down. If it were a gen, I would have issues and most likely the threads wouldn't be stripped from the start either.

And yes, the spring bars are able to rotate, but I am not swinging the straps about enough to make them move. I wear the straps pretty fitted, not like a bracelet where one might find more movement and therefore more wear on the leather.

the springbars are too big to fit through the tubes and yes they rotate making the tubes unneeded. they work perfectly and the only reason to use screws now is for a ss band or the buckel.

I have not yet bought a replacement that had them I have always scavenged them from my rep straps.

I also have a set of springbars from River and they do float a bit in the lug allowing them to turn some to prevent wear on the strap.

E, sells tubes as a optional add on to his straps as well.

you can also buy a length of steel tubing to make your own tubes They are approx. 2mm OD 1.6mm ID.

And Joe, the "panty tubes" are used by women (usually) to help in the subtle release of gastrointestinal accidents!!!!!!!!! [smilie=fart.gif]

I thought it was to keep the screw from unscrewing? The leather is 'sticky' to the screw, and so constant movement would eventually unscrew it... the screw tube is more 'slippery' and allows the strap to move freely without unscrewing it. Nothing to do with wear on your band. But i could be wrong :)
