No, they have this contest going. "Who can take the crappiest pictures."
Makes you wonder, all the money they are spending on watches but
apparently none left for a halfway decent camera...

I recently answered a thread elsewhere, posting pics of a a member's watch with

'joke...right'

and that opened the flood gates for a lot of negative comments toward the watch, I'm quite sure that fornite won't be sharing unsolicited pics for a while.

One poster tried to put a stop to the comments by saying:

'Stop the Haterade'

Now I see a mod posting a new thread only to mock a bunch of guys who share our passion for watches. Why? Because they can and choose to spend more money than you on their hobby?

I don't get it. I'm new here and although I have read for hours on end I did not think this kind of hate-tirade was encouraged or supported.

I'm sure for some of those folks in the pics, their investment (and IN THEIR CASE it IS an investment) in watches is far lower, as a percentage of income, than for many members here.

So why the haterade?

Mods please clarify.

BTW, I was on rwg back in the old days and jetmid aside, this was not a common practice.

This is a good example right here.

The above would be a badge of honor 'Hey guys, look what I got, sorry for the crappy pics, phone camera' and the watch is a modded DSN +/-$500. I'm sure whoever can afford a $500 rep, can also afford a $40 2,400 DPI flatbed scanner and get decent images of his watch.

But I guess, since they can afford Gens, only the best of everything should be acceptable to US???

*** Maybe this is a fast and loose forum and there is no ill will intended, I just want to know what is going on and either get with the program or get going.

In all fora I visit, this type of post goes into the 'free-fire zone' type sub-sections.

:)

Nice stuff....but given the price differential....not anywhere THAT much nicer than ours!!...
I prefer a stack of reps, AND a nice PAID FOR vehicle in my garage, some bucks in my CD's, and a couple of cruises a year...Thank you very much!!
Granted these guys can probably afford to blow money any way they want, but my priorities fit my lifestyle just fine...And in the end...we ALL become even....worm food....

Um, NAS, I don't know you, you don't know me. Since I *am* a mod, I'll keep this polite, despite my inclination not to.

Where do you see ANYTHING in my post that is mocking? I simply chose to share an AMAZING group shot of a bunch of watches that are beyond the reach of mere mortals like myself. I mean, seriously, 4 PAM203s on the same table?!?!?! Where on earth have you ever seen that before? Plus the smattering of JLCs, the bad-ass AP ROO, the 201/A, the list goes on and on.

I'm not ashamed to admit I am more than a little envious of them and their collections, but I assure you and everyone reading this that I was not attempting to belittle the owners of those beautiful and, in some cases, historic timepieces.

Unless you misunderstood the "stupid rich" comment? That was not a negative statement. Lord knows that if I had these guys' bank accounts, I'd be right there with them. If it makes you feel better, replace the word "stupid" with "crazy" or "unbelievably". That is the spirit in which the phrase was used.

In the future, I'd suggest you give a poster the benefit of the doubt before going off on some completely unfounded rant because of some *perceived* mockery.

Feel free to PM me if you would like to discuss this further.

I in NO way endorse Swatchman's post/opinion, but he has the right to post what he thinks, just as you do.

Hey guys, come off it. You can speculate that these nice folks
are discussing their stoopid wealth but I cannot observe that
the quality of the pictures are in quite a contrast to the quality
of the motifs? The first is pure speculation by the bad, bad
mod (shame on you...). The latter is simple observation
combined with a perfectly reasonable explanation. Unbiased
I might add. I'm feeling so misunderstood. I thought we were
all buddies here?! [smilie=angel10.gif]

they sure would pour gasoline on any person that buys, wears or messes with replica Panerais - and set it on fire.
i have been reading enough hate threads on Risti ...way more hateful then what was written in here.
how can someone dare to put a counterfeit of their beloved Panerai watch on their wrist?
- in their exact words: they need to be hunted down, tared and feathered....where ever we see them....
by the way.....as much as like Panerai.....they are still nothing but rough - middleclass watches.

They wouldn't know what the nice strap is even if you've shown them one, LOL!

What about that dinky little strap on 021...what a shame, sewn-in by hand around fixed lugs, yet the strap is a joke...

cheers dudes and peace to all !
