@babachrome27 you sold this watch on September 17th, 2023.
The buyer patiently waited for you to send the watch and give updates on shipping status.
You provided a tracking number only on October 18th. On the same day you provided a screenshot of an alleged Whatsapp conversation with your local post office customer service (but using the international number) stating that the package was seized in accordance to Customs Act. Which is odd, since the watch is not a replica, but a homage. They also said you would receive an official notification in writing.
On October 21st the buyer informed you that the tracking didn't work, didn't provide any information.
You took your time answering him, in the first week of November you said your last info was the watch was "under customs", not specifying the source of this. You also claimed that the local post had a "system update" which was the reason for the slow updates. To appease the buyer, who was very patient, you said you were writing an "official letter for this matter" to complain and make a claim.
On November 15th the buer again asked for an update.
Your answer came on January 30th, 2 and a half months after the buyer's query. You said "I did not received any info, the call centrum lady said the package is probably lost at customs in the States. I am so sorry."
You then ghosted the buyer until he opened a HDT on February 25th, again showing a great amount of patience. Only then, when asked from a mod via pm to give some updates you deemed it right to give an answer. Your answer was inconclusive but for this statement: "I posted the watch at my local post office more than half a year ago. 3 months after dispatch, it is no longer possible to file a complaint. Of course, I will contact the post office and ask for an official position regarding the disappearance of the package."
What about the "official letter for this matter" you allegedly wrote in November, well within the 3-month claim period?
You were asked to provide proofs of dispatch of the watch on February 26th.
Again, you took your time answering. When it came on March 8th, this was the answer:
"I haven't found the postal receipt yet, and since then I've changed my place of residence. I personally inquired with the post office about the package based on the recipient and sender. I was informed that I could only file any complaint within 3 months from the posting. /Plus I was informed that the package probably disappeared during transit/.
In this case, all I can do is refund half of the amount."
The buyer graciously agreed to getting just half of the amount back.
On March 10th you told the buyer you would refund him "next week"...
You were online until March 11th.
The buyer has yet to see a penny.
That's it for the timeline. I'll now just highlight some parts to show the consistency of your statements and how these appear like made up excuses:
- seized in accordance to Customs Act
- under customs
- system update
- lost at customs in the States
- lost in transit
- changed place of residence
I have to guess the cat ate your "official letter" in November so you can't provide any proof you actually did make a claim to your post office.
Regarding your statement "3 months after dispatch, it is no longer possible to file a complaint." you have infringed sales rule #1, E):
Must be willing to help your buyer to resolve any "after" sales issues. (Immediately after the sale, within a reasonable amount of time.)
You have not respected any reasonable amount of time. You have not respected the buyer's patience listening to your excuses. You have not followed through with your official claim to the post. You have not provided the official notification that the package was allegedly held in customs. You have not refunded half of the amount to the buyer as you had promised.
You made excuses, you were lazy, you lied, you broke RWI's rules and ethos. This is the place for you.
I will try to apply the buyer's infinite patience here and give you a shred of benefit of the doubt. Things can happen in life. Refund the buyer and you will get the chance to get out of the Brig.
