Is there anyone who has waterproofed an SMP themselves? Can anyone tell me how to pull this off and what would be needed?

Silicon grease and perhaps a rubber gasket replacement.

You need to apply evenly and as thinly as possible to the existing rubber gasket (you have to open the caseback and see that there's rubber). Check if it is damaged (bent, breaking, etc.) you need to replace it. Also the rubber gasket (small size) on the crown and crown tube. In order to do so, you need to release the stem from the movement.

Agree with Piratedzeus, When servicing my watch I notice that the HE valve on my 'ultimate' PO was missing the rubber gasket.

Thanks for the advise. Does anyone have an easier way of removing the case back than buying an Omega "key"?

Would it just be easier to start paying the extra $50 for waterproofing from now on?
