You've been around long enough... do you remember the guy who reverse engineered one of these and built his own like 10 years ago? Last I heard, he now owns a microbrand company. I don't know which one, maybe one of the other long timers around here can chime in? I'd be interested in seeing his watches now.

Edit, I found it: this guy, the watch was done years before this post was made though. I want to say it was like the first year I was around and that's over 10 years now. I remember he had a thread going as he engineered the parts and posted progress every month of so.

This guy replicated the Urwerk UR-202

Even more surprising is for how little money he did it. After seeing how many tens of thousands of dollars it costs to develop a watch that doesn't even have a custom movement, this is amazing.

Damn, reversed engineered the watch. The final product on that video looks really well done too. Wonder if he has access to the machinery to get these parts made.
