I have an aquaracer too Grande date with the ronda 5040b quartz movement. Today I was caught in a heavy rain and got completely soaked. When I got indoors and looked down at the watch it had condensation inside and had stopped working. I opened up the back and left it faced down with a silica gel pack sitting on the top of the movement. Do you guys think the movement is toast? Also i am worried that the water drops will stain the hands and the inside of the Crystal

Well first I assume this is a rep since a gen aquaracer should have no issues in the rain whatsoever lol.

Probably have to get a new movement unless it comes back to life, if the dial/hands/crystal get stained you could probably have a modder clean up the crystal with new AR and repaint the hands and dial, and at the same time you could get it superlumed and waterproofed while you are at it so this does not happen again.

Pack it in as many silica packs as you can find, or rice if you don't have enough silica desiccant packs. And leave it alone for a few days.

Just my thoughts, good luck!

That must have been one hell of a rain storm or a very poorly sealed watched!

Good news it works after drying out! No water stains either!

How easy it it to waterproof a rep?

Can it be done at home, is it a case of sealing the 'O' ring.

It sounds like it leaks in a few places if rain water gets in.

Well not many leak that easily :)
"Water proofing" a rep is simple enough if you can get the caseback off yes. A tiny amount of silicone grease on the o rings of the caseback and the crown is all that is usually needed (assuming the watch doesn't have chrono pushers). You will need to pop the stem but there are lots of tutorials both here and on YouTube to take you thru that.
