Hi Guys,
I just wanted to share my latest project with you all. I really needed to upgrade my workspace at home but I couldn't afford the £600+ for a purpose-made bench. I saw a blog by a guy called Dirk Fassbender (best porn name ever), in which he made a watchmakers bench entirely using bits from IKEA.

This being more in line with my budget, I thought I'd have a go myself.
First off, here is the list of Items needed from everyones favourite Swedish torture centre
x2 Alex 5-drawer units
x1 Ekby Alex shelf
x2 (8 in total) 16 cm Capita legs
x1 Linnmon Table top
I also had to buy x4 adjustable cabinet legs online to stabilise the rear of the desk.
Right, so here we go in stages...
1. Assemble the Alex Drawers
2. Attach the Capita legs.
3. Screw the top of the Ekby Alex to the underside of the Linnmon table top and assemble the rest of the shelf.
4. Attach the adjustable legs to the back of the underside of the tabletop and flip over.
And here is the end result... I still have to attach my lamp and transfer my timing machine, cleaning machine and tools. But I think its looking pretty good
I didn't attach the top to the drawer units as it makes it easier to move around. There is no problem with stability due to the weight, so I'm happy to leave it like this.
Cheers, Hope you like it!
BTW, total cost £160
