Sold my recent DJ41. The buyers account is 3 days old and 4 comments, all 4 wanting to buy a watch.

They’ve paid bank transfer and sent me a copy of their ID with matching name and address to which he has supplied. He has also sent me a letter with matching name and address also. (He sent the letter off his own back).

Is it possibly he could do a charge back once recieved the watch? Or am I just worrying about nothing? Cheers

I guess it's down to your discretion

Personally i would generally avoid selling to a user who is fresh on the forum, albeit i was also once a new user purchasing a franken for £1000+ plus and he trusted me.

I would always avoid taking a bank transfer as

With regards to funds being a bank transfer they could always be stolen which would lead to a CIFAS marker once reported, seeing as you've taken the transfer already. I would save all documentation and conversation along with ID and only ship to the ID address (i assume UK buyer). ID can also be photoshopped.

This is what I’m thinking, taking bank transfer is no longer the safest option. The money came from a bank account woth the matching name to the ID and letter. So that’s a positive sign, it’s just with it been a new user it makes you a bit weary as it’s so easily done

You're a fairly new user yourself so trust has to work both ways truthfully.

ID and letter all can be faked not meaning his is fake, good luck with sale :)

Very true my friend, I also bought from someone as a new user I suppose. It was just with the 3 day old account and all 4 comments trying to buy a watch seem a little odd.

Well, you have to ship him the watch…….
does his banking transfer slip match his identification and his address you are shipping to?

That’s a fairly positive sign if all those three match.

If not, and there’s no legit reason for that stuff to all line up, best walk away from that one as fast as you can.
….that’s what I’d do.

His banking name matches both the letter and ID; DOB also matches letter and ID.
The letter has the delivery address given, the ID has different address, he did say family address.

I mean whats the chances of him winning a chargeback case if i have all conversations, ID and proof of special delivery?

that is a question best to be answered by your bank.
Every bank is different.

So long that there is no reason for there to be a chargeback (your watch is fully functional - TAKE VIDEO of it working before shipping, as well as video of it being boxed up)

you want the best for all parties.
I do this for Gens and Reps.

If you are shipping an agreed condition functioning watch, there’s no reason they can charge back.
Stack the odds in your favour.

Yes watch is fully working as should and exactly as described. I just know when there is financial difficulties theres always people scamming one way or another. Videoing me boxing it up is a good idea, maybe its worth doing this. I wouldn't even be questiong it had it have been an account older than 3 days.

better to have and not need, than to need and not have - especially after it being suggested……

PPFF is subject to the same risks as a bank transfer. There’s no way to prevent someone from doing a chargeback unfortunately. It’s just the risk of doing business online.

Good to know. I thought FF was a safer option due to you actually sending money to the third party (PayPal).

Well assuming you sold here on rwi then the buyer may well end up reading this thread and you questioning their credentials openly may well lead to them being a little upset.…..so something must have set off your spidey sense to ask openly.

online transactions have trust either way they pay you up front on the basis you will honour that and send the watch, you just gotta trust that they are not a Piece of Sh!T and when they get it try claim money back from bank….. you sent to the address which matches the bank details etc, you can’t do much more than trust after that I’m afraid.

hope it went well, assuming you’ve sent it and they’ve received it…was it sent tracked and signed for?

Once Money Is on your account
Nothing could be done by the buyer
Simply wait for the amount to be there and then ship the watch

He sent me payment via F and F and once recieved I shipped off the watch. Nothing dodgy went on luckily, sent it RMSD by 1pm 😁
