Watch Building

Seems like it would help to understand watch building /assembly as I get into this hobby. I’ve seen a number of videos about building “homage” watches from Aliexpress kits/parts - is it feasible to use high quality reps as part of this process in lieu of cheap Aliexpress supplies?

I kinda like the idea of buying a rep and putting a dial of my own on it, or replacing the movement as necessary.

Yes it is. The tech and vintage sections have loads of information on the matter. Techniques, tools, suppliers, everything you may need is there, including the members able to help you. There's nothing like reading to start getting an idea of what you can and can't do with reps/frankens.
