Howdy! I'm curious if anyone has good ideas/brands they recommend for watch boxes. Most of the stuff I see online looks either super cheap or super generic. Winders seem cool but vastly expensive and from what I read, not recommended for reps to avoid overuse.

Appreciate if anyone can forward ideas or if another thread exists out there (I couldn't find one myself). Cheers!

Hey mate

I have one of these arriving shortly…..

Probably not to everyone’s style or taste but I like the heavy duty aspect:)

I believe they are “Peli cases” and sold by different vendors online:)

Bit of chatter here:

And a friend is looking at the below, due to arrive soon, so just waiting to get a real life review, because they look slick:

Loads of options online, some super cheap, some a bit more expensive, all depends on what you want really, what look you're going for.

Loads of threads on winders too, with members both for & against.

Interesting. I like the idea of that, but was looking for something that I could display openly (i.e. glass cover). Most designs seem to be desk oriented, but would like something I could potentially wall mount. Wasn't sure if it would be better looking at something custom.

@notdiglet_ I have seen people take one of three directions with boxes. Each has their own drawbacks and benefits.

1. Tactical/Pelican Cases. This is a great option for a few reasons. They are extremely customizable, relatively cheap, and provide stellar protection for your pieces. The drawbacks of course are that you dont get any luxury factor or something to show off in pictures that people will drool at. I personally think the benefits far outweigh the cons.

2. Luxury Brands. A lot of people love to go with a watch box from LV, Smythson, Goyard, etc. These are beautiful and definitely hold some status. Fakes are also fairly easy to locate although quality of materials and construction might be a bit dodgy. The drawbacks of these are the fact that they dont offer a ton of customization and are quite generic in the sense that many others have this sort of thing.

3. Generic Amazon, Ebay, Etsy. These boxes are varied in construction and materials and can range from very cheap to wildly expensive. I would encourage anyone going this route to work with a trusted maker and find something special. The sky is the limit here and many can build you whatever you would like

Best of luck and I look forward to the discussion...

Mine came in and I absolute love it, although I get the argument for glass top display cases also. I guess it is all about personal preference……

I love the pelican look as well with the added benefit being that it truly protects your stuff. If you have some gens mixed in, even more reason to go this direction. I believe some pelican cases even have light fire resistance correct?

Haven’t really researched that much as it was more the military look I was going for…..shock, dust and water yes….fire resistance will look into:)

Quick edit, couldn’t find anything about fire resistance but they do offer lifetime guarantee…..

I saw those on Amazon, it looked cheap initially, but the 38 picture looks pretty decent. Unsure about mounting though, seems to have a base for tabletop, but certainly an option.

I've abandoned my watch boxes for the most part and have gone to watch rolls. Work great to for travel.

Ha, that's on the list as well, I currently have more than 3 though so will need a main storage and a roll, appreciate any recommendations, though I have been eyeing up Wolf

If you like Wolf, sign up and wait for a nice discount code. My main watch box is Wolf. I have a watch roll that I keep in my office. Good to have both.

Good call, I was looking at the 10 piece with the drawer as I need a space for cuff links and extra straps and such. Will be my backup if I don't land on anything else.

What the fuck are you trying to do, hide your watches from your wife amongst the boxes of assault rifles?

Jesus fucking Christ 😂😂😂

I'm thinking about this one

@Storm. you'd be surprised how common and functional these pelican type cases are. Many of my guitar cases are a similar aesthetic and they are far more protective than those made from framed wood with faux leather coverings. IN addition, many people store other smaller pieces of musical gear like synths, samplers, or drum machines in pelicans. I use one for my fly fishing reels when traveling by air. They are highly protective and very very fun to cut/organize for your chosen gear

Cheers!

I use the "Case Club" pelican style boxes. I used the 32 slot version most recently and have considered purchasing a 6 slot for when I travel. I recommend the high quality and durability of these boxes.
