Want to install ETA 2892-A2 in a case...

Have a ETA 2892-A2 that we want to put into a Paul Picot case.
First attempt we broke the movement stem because of un-equal stem tunnel alignment.

We have a ETA 2836-2 movement that fits this case perfectly.
But, I desire the 2892-A2 movement in this case.

From the info on this forum I see that the 'stem height' of the 2836-2 is 2.25mm.....and the stem height of the 2892-A2 is 1.50mm.
(Reason we broke the 2892-A2 stem. Duh!)

Will a 'dial spacer' solve this issue?
If so, do we need a 0.75mm spacer?
Thicker or thinner?
Where can we purchase such a spacer?

Suggestions.....

Many thanks

A dial spacer will work but then the problem is you may still need the taller pinion set for the hands. I've put a 2893-2 in a GMTIIC case successfully, but it's still a tight fit for the hands when using a spacer. Of course you won't have to worry about the 4th GMT hand so it should be easier. Also, I had a transplanted 2892-2 in a WM9 Sub case with no problem.

I'm not sure where the dial spacers came from, whether it came with the movement or from a different one in my spare parts. I think it was just the fatter of the two spacers that come with either a 2824 or 2836 movement.

Bought the 2892-A2 NOS at a bargain price form

Bought the NOS 2892-A2 at a bargain price form Switzerland.
Some reports and forums give this movement a higher rating.

What are your thoughts?

Cheers

Assuming you're talking to me, I said a 2893-2 in the GMTIIC, which is just a 2892-2 with the GMT module.

Probably the best ETA movement that they make.

That's the WM9 Sub Case with a 2892-2 in it. Fit with no problem.

Am I right assuming a 2892 is a better fit in a wm9 case than a 2836? I've heard that the higher crown height on the case puts some stress on the stem of a 2836.

I'm going to get a TC case soon and plan on putting a 2892 in it. Good idea?

Here in AZ there is no one near my home that has any experience or knowledge about my project.
Would you be willing to install the 2892-A in my Picot case?
Or, recommend someone?
Regards

I originally bought 3 new 2893-2 movements at a great price and had all 3 pinion sets replaced with the tallest ones available. I used one in a GMTIIC, one in a WM9 case with the GMT pieces removed and sold the other one.

There was no problem fitting the stem that I remember on either watch using the standard ETA dial spacer. Now, it might be that the dial spacer on the GMT movement was taller than the spacer on the 2892-2 movement. I really don't know. But, apparently, with the right dial spacer and taller pinions, I think it should work on any 2836-2 case.

Like everything in rep modding, it's almost all trial and error. Just got to figure a way to make it all fit together.

And PM'd Paulpicot.

KBH, let me know how you go on with the dial spacer please?. I will be doing one of these myself in the next week or two and would be interested.
