I have recently received a VSF 225569 with VS3235 movement from one of the TD's, its a beautiful watch.

However last week I noticed when I went to wind it the crown was not winding the movement, there is no resistance on the crown when winding. The crown still adjusts the date and time but does not wind the mainspring/movement. The watch will still wind itself whilst I am wearing it, but I can't wind it from the crown.

Anyone had this before ? is it a major problem to fix or something simple that I could do myself if I removed the back case?

Any help or advice very much appreciated.

Thanks - Jon

Another keyless stem issue from the VS movement. Probably just needs a keyless reset. Not something to do by yourself. Take it to a watch maker. Should be a relatively cheap fix like $30-50 for anybody competent.

if it's anything bigger than that - well, a gen stem or swap with a VR3235.

I assume everything else works? Setting time no issue? Etc

Thanks for the help, really appreciated.

Yes everything else works fine, I am fairly new to this (But becoming addicted very quickly) is this a common issue on the VS movement? but not so much on the VR movement ? It would be good to know for future reference.

Eh, rep movement is rep movement, it's hard to say, on average, I wouldn't be worried,

VS3235 has sometimes issues related to it's keyless works, winding slipping, double date skip, but in general 95% of the time it's a great movement.

VR3235, not to get into the nuance, but it uses a 3135 stem system, which is more proven and tested, and causes less issues, but it still can happen with rep movement.

Both are reliable, it's just a matter of luck, I would still take either one, no issue.
