Just wondering what movement is in the vsf Pam 904. The description on all the TD sites is, Custom designed Asian automatic movement to match the genuine Panerai OP XXXIV movement at 28800vph

Mine is running slow and I'm trying to figure out hoe to regulate it

From what I know, this is a standard vsf p.9000 clone, which is put on the vast majority of their lineup.

I just received mine. It is unfortunately doa...

Thank sucks man.

If it is the p9000 clone which from my understanding is a decorated 7750, the 7750 is expensive to service/replace. I'm getting anywhere from a minus a minute after a couple of hours

I just hope it can be fixed with a service. Otherwise it will be a real disaster

No, clone p.9000 is an independent movement. Decorated 7750 is another, older version, which was put in rep panerai, before the clone appeared.

Is the clone a more reliable movement? Is it easier/cheaper to regulate/service? I don't have the tool to pop the caseback off to even look underneath

There are no particular claims to reliability. Problems only with spare parts. I think if you are not ready to open the back case, you should not try to adjust it yourself. It is better to give it for maintenance and adjustment, if you have a watchmaker.

If you want to experiment, to open the back case, you can use a rubber ball, or something at hand with similar properties.

From my understanding, the caseback is a press caseback. It seems to be pressed pretty tight and I don't have anything that can slip underneath to pop open

Oh, I didn’t know that they used a clapper, in accordance with gen. From the photographs of TD, I did not see the gap in order to pick it up. If I'm not mistaken, Hazing had this watch, maybe he can tell how to open it correctly, suddenly he waterproofed them ...

Yeah, I saw this thread pop up like two minutes after you created it and I was going to post how it’s a little annoying to get the caseback off. It’s not hard as much as it is tricky. But your question was about the movement and I didn’t want to pop in saying random things about about everything but what you asked. It is not a screw down caseback, instead it pops off. I think I had used one of those bezel vises. If you don’t have one of those, I remember Nivka saying he used a shifter wrench or maybe a bezel removal tool might work.

Indeed I used a shifter wrench. My movement is unusual in that it doesn’t have a quickset function for the date. Instead, I have to advance the hour hand forwards independently, just like a GMT

You can try using a razor blade to work your way around the case back. It's a typical technique to open up pressed stuff such as crystal retainer etc.

There hasnt been many complains about the movement stability. VSF have been using the clone for a long time now (well considerable amount of time anyway). The problem with these is when it comes to a service its ok if the watchmaker can just clean and relube everything but if new parts are needed thats the problem.
