VSF Pam 312 on hand and my thoughts

Received VSF Pam 312 from a TD yesterday, here's a quick comparison with the highly acclaimed VS6 / KW.

Left: VS6/KW (note: this unit has the ZF movement and datewheel)
Right: VSF


Dial and Inscription:
- VSF dial is a little more greenish than KW
- VSF Inscriptions are more creamy white, lesser yellowish than the current ZF. But still not 100% Gen yet
- VSF Inscriptions are slightly raised, not as high as ZF. KW is total flat. VSF is def more gen like look
- VSF Inscriptions seems bit smaller (not sure if its due to distortion of crystal)
- VSF Date wheel window seems a bit bigger, (not sure if its due to distortion of crystal)
- VSF Date insciptions a bit too peachy in color.
- VSF Lume, a little less greenish than KW.



Case set
- VSF Crown guard inscriptions not as deep as KW
- VSF Crystal dome nice curve, like KW ( assessment using my hand)
- VSF Finishing slightly better than KW. KW sometimes has slight uneven surface
- Case back, KW has a slight nice engravings due to the proportions.









Movement
- Needless to say, VSF has most accurate look. Though the escape wheel is lower than Gen
- VSF Deco plate finishing is closer to ZF, not as refined as KW



Crown guard lever
- VSF Nice to see a rubber washer

Caseset is def very close, in fact CG can be inter-changed with each other.

Can't be too sure about the dial as Chris' posting showed that there were a groove on his Kw 438 dial while his VSF doesn't. likewise I've also seen my KW having that as well.

VSF: mounting of Gen and rep rubber straps is much faster, guess the case set is closer to gen dimensions.

VS6 requires wriggling, ZF is worst.

Hmmmm i cant say ive noticed any issues mounting gen straps on either my kw or zf. Kw lugs wont take a gen SS bracelet though

lugs are ok, it's the the tip of the straps and its only the Rubber straps having the slight compatibility fit issues.

AR is close to the Gen, when I compared VS6 and ZF. AR coating for Gen 312 is relatively weak, I would say.

ZF glass however, has an inner reflection where hands would be reflected in certain angle of view.

If I can remember the kw crystal was worse and had weird circular rings in the dial because of the inner bezel. The vsf I found the crystal much better with nothing weird happening under the dial

Well the GMTs on at least first class levels reps are working, just not like the gens. If what you call "working GMT" means they work like the gen GMT functions, then there aren't any new PAMs with such a function.

I have handled at least 5 Kw 312 but i don't see the weird circular rings.

on the other hand, all 3 Zf's, that i have handled had these weird circular rings. that's where i attribute to the AR coating in one of my earlier posts
