I’m building a franken with dial, bezel, hands and crystal . I have the option of a vsf or clean to build from . What do I go for ? I’d imagine I want the best case shape and bracelet since everything else will be gen . Any input appreciated

Currently if you're doing a full franken INCLUDING a dial swap then I have to give it to VSF, it's easy to swap dial and bezel and other stuff, hard to find a case. VSF is the easiest one to find right now, as others have said, NOOB if you can swing it but those are M2M only. "new noob" is not the same as "old noob" cases.

For me, I would not rely on the words of members, you need to deep dive, a franken is not some light hearted journey, if you are putting serious money in you should know what you're building, otherwise just buy a stock watch and smile

I’ve been reading a lot and people are saying the vsf case is better , but then I get a lot of people say go clean. I don’t think a noob case is in the question because I rather have a pretty easy swap over

I do a lot of 116520 builds for fun as from what I received as recently as the first week of June, the VSF and Clean cases are exactly the same. Misshapen case and lugs too thin they could be spotted from space as fakes.

I'd go with BTF or ZF factory 1165200's to convert for the most realistic 116520.

For reference, here's the QC pic of the ZF 116500 I started with:

And here's the ZF 116500 modded to a 116520 with a gen bezel, gen dial, gen hands, gen crystal & gasket:
