VSF 8900 repair. Worth it?

Hello.

I own a VSF Omega seamaster 8900. It is 4 years old. After a hit, it stoped working and I can clear see a gear dettached from movement.
I leave in Greece. Is it worth to send it for repair?
Who I have to contact for?

I can't recommend someone but I am not too certain that you'd be able to source parts for it.

The thing you see detached is not a wheel, it is a cover for the rotor screw.

Thank you for your reply and really sorry for the wrong forum post. Yes you are right, it is not a gear. However mevement does not work.
I was thinking to send it back to VSF. On local technician was unable to repair it.
You think worth it?

I do not recommend sending the watch back to VSF/China. The risks of it getting lost or seized are too high.

I would check our Trusted Watchmakers section and see if any of them in the EU would take a look at it.

I would not be surprised if there is something stuck in the gear train. Happens often.

There are no real spareparts available and a lot parts are customized. The movement itself is not that easy to service as it has some flying springs inside for example. So you either give it to an experienced watchmaker or sell it as a sparepart watch. There are for sure people who are desperate for them.

Marv has a CNY Sale on these that would probably get you a new one cheaper than having the old one repaired.

Bonus would be that you now have a great source of spare parts should something happen to the new one, lol.

That said, it's hard to tell from the photos, but is that loose part just the decorative cover for the rotor screw? It could be glued back, or simply removed, and the watch might start working again, if it's causing the watch to sieze up. Will it run if you manually wind it with the crown? It's possible that it fell off when the watch was dropped, wedged itself between the rotor and case, and once the mainspring ran down, the rotor isn't recharging it.

This is the piece that looks to be loose, it's purely decorative, and the watch will run without it.

Does anyone know any movements that would be able to just drop in the case and get things running?

These things usually run with A2824 but It comes with a few adjustments here and there. Especially the height and construction of the seconds pinion is not standard. But with a little bit of mix and match you can get it running again.

So I have a 2824 and noted that the movement diameter is too small for the case. It seems like the body of the movement is a 7750. I was wondering if a 7750 would just drop in.

For some reason I can't find the edit message button, but I also noted that the date wheel doesn't fit a 2824 - its too big for the movement, and an original 2824 date wheel doesn't line up with the dial window.

VSF does not provide replacement movement. At least thru Chazing TIme. I suppose the best way is to get a new one VSF8900 and keep this as spare parts!
