VSF 116610LV "Hulk" crystal question

Hey, RWI:

I'm looking to get a 116610LV aka the "Hulk" specifically from VSF [I currently own a VSF "Starbucks" and love it]. I do have a question about the crystals re: both current and old model VSF Hulks.

My understanding is that few to absolutely no gen Hulks received the AR coating underneath the crystal, as is found in all 12xxxxx models. Is VSF true to the crystals of the gens by supplying a crystal without AR [aside from the cyclops]?

I assume the older versions circa 2020 and older would have no AR, but I'm curious about the current production reps if I were to buy new. I actually prefer crystals without AR -- I love that shine!

Awesome, thanks for the info. Does this also include newly made Hulks? I know how factories like to cut costs [i.e., only using the Mk. 1 Hulk color on the Starbucks], so I wasn't sure if they'd be putting the new crystals on all models being manufactured, regardless of the reference.

It would cost more to have 2 different types of crystals on their reps. They're all the same.

Regarding your Mk1 comment, factories aren't cutting cost, they just don't care enough to build out a supply chain for the Mk 2 bezel. The mk1 bezel is not "wrong" and the Starbucks sells like hotcakes even with the Mk1 bezel so there's no incentive to make a second one.

Yeah, I understand what you're saying, though the first guy who replied said VSF Hulks have a true-to-gen-like crystal with no AR coating on the underside [aside from fully coated cyclops]. So are you saying that they're using all non-AR underside coating on all models? Or the new AR crystals on all newly manufactured pieces, regardless of reference?

VSF crystals on their 116x line are all the same bro- Hulk, Black Submariner, Bluesy, etc, all correct with only AR beneath the cyclops. This is what I mean, all the 40mm / 116x Submariners for VSF share the same VSF crystal.

Their 126x line is different, has a different crystal with AR like gen on the whole crystal. The crystal size between 116x and 126x is different anyways, you cannot reuse a 116x crystal on a 126x model.....

Got it, thanks. You both answered my question just the same. I'll be getting a Hulk next [already have a Starbucks], but just wanted to be sure the crystal is gen-specific for the Hulk. I prefer the lack of AR actually, as all my gens are 11xxxxxs -- and those crystals were partly the reason I fell in love with Subs.

On a related note, if you were unhappy with the VSF crystal, it's not terribly difficult to order a Deep Crystal or something and do an install either (if you so desire)
