VS3230 vs VR3230

Hi all,

I own both a clean no date sub and a vsf airking. Much prefer the sub so I’m in the process of swapping the VS3230 movement from the airking into the sub but whilst doing this, its become apparent that the clean sub had the updated versions of the VR3230 which no longer has the plate on the balance bridge/fake beat adjuster.

My question is does this updated VR3230 movement have any further improvements? Is it now on a par with the VS3230? Anecdotally id say the finish/decoration on the VR3230 looks to be better than the VS3230 but the operation of the VS movement feels far smoother.

Just in case anyone tries to do the same in future, the plate the dial clips to (distance piece?) is not cross compatible between VS and VR movements. Luckily I have managed to source a genuine distance piece on eBay, which will hopefully fit on the back of the VS main plate.

I’m sure for many of you this is not new news, but thought it worth mentioning if anyone is searching in the future…

I don’t know that clean have a new vr3230 that is like vs3230…. Whats the difference and the power reserve??

Damm, did not know about the new VR3230 they use. But they have updated the VR3235 very like VSF movements. So this might be a real clone like VS3230?

No the VR is not a true clone, hence why the parts were not interchangeable between VR and VS…
