Not really a ‘vs’ as they’re only watches, it’s not like they fight when I leave the room . Anyway, here’s a quick comparison between these two different Yacht-Master reps. I’ve had almost every variant of this watch and till the VSF came along, the VRF was the best from my experience. Still a good watch (I’m currently selling mine in the sales section ), more that the VSF has a few minor tweaks sorted, albeit at a higher price tag.
Apologies about the photos, it’s just me and my iPhone here. VRF on the left, VSF on the right.
Case and dial: VRF has a closer rose gold colour, but the VSF has a better dial, particularly with the hour markers. VRF and all other offerings look like they have smaller markers. I think it’s the metal they use around these and how it reflects light as the VRF in soft light looks the same but in normal light they look smaller (same problem as BP or ARF). Crystal is better on the VSF which was expected.
Rehaut: Thus one’s hard because both are a little off in opposing ways. VRF is too short, like a 226659 style, whereas VRF is close, but more like a sub style font size. Come on guys, this shouldn’t be too hard to nail. Crown is the same on each version and close to gen.
Strap: This is hard. The VSF looks more stiff and gen when off the wrist, but on the wrist the VRF wins. Both look like the gen which is a bonus.
Clasp: Big distinction here. VSF has a glidelock clasp which means it’s bigger. Glidelock isn’t stock on the gen 116655 but honestly, it’s welcome on the hot days we’re having here in the Southern Hemisphere. Why VSF didn’t put a crown on the writing and use their VSS as 3235 is beyond me. The VRF has a true 116655 clasp. Writing on both is very close to gen.
Movements: This is open for debate. The VRF uses a VR3135 whereas the VSF uses their VS3135. While the VS is likely a better clone, the VR is more readily available and probably cheaper to replace. Either way they’re both outstanding clone movements.
That’s it folks. I’ve tried this in many times at the AD and without handling these reps next to the gen, more would be fooled by both but the VSF is a little ahead of the pack, although still has flaws.
