Vintage Panerai welded lugs prototype
Phase two

The welded lugs prototype was one of my first vintage projects, I was very satisfied with that build but eventually had to let it go along the way in order to proceed with my addiction. Here's how it looked: http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/s...nally-complete

Almost exactly two years later, a few parts I had lying on my bench and some inspiration drove me to build another one.

For this build I used River's case again, it's the only available option these days and it's a fairly accurate case. The bead blasted finish is also very nicely done and gets vintaged pretty easily. One thing that felt weird instead was the lack of reshaping on this case in order to keep safe the bead blasted midcase finish. Some hardcore builders can do their own beadblasting, but that's not my case as I still work only with very simple tools and a lot of hours, that's all.

In any case here's the list of parts/mods for this build:

- River case chemically aged, bezel and caseback rusted around the plexi

- Nightwatch blued hands, aged + relumed (I'll have something to say about these hands on another thread soon)

- Unknown maker Marina Militare OPF dial with a nice light cream lume

- 60 years old Molnija 3601 freshly serviced. These old molnijas are so beautiful, they are very close the cortebert 616 they are based on and they still run strong.

- Beautiful rugged and super soft strap from zsirstudio with one of his brass screw-in buckles

Hope you enjoyed the reading and pics, in a few days I'll have a new great project for you :)

Beautiful build, I love the casework especially. Great job, I'm sure you put in a lot of hours in it. Love the overall look and the vintage of the strap. You are a true perfectionist, kudos!
