Going for gen so it is with great sorrow that I am passing on this work of art!
Bought M2M from the fabulous @fred and built by the legendary @aksl:

It has been passed from M2M and everyone has added their own little touches to this goregous piece (would love to see it come back full circle one day) - that is why I have so much love for this forum and the passionate people in it.
My little alteration was adding a slightly ghosted insert and matching pearl - though the watch still comes with all the orginal parts.
I will quote @fred for the following:
"The build is based on the Vietnam 1665 case. The case has been reworked and refinished. It has the correct engravings and period correct serial for a late MK2, dated 1973. Case, dial, hands, insert and DWO have all been gently aged to give it the used but well-maintained look of a 50 year old watch.
The case is fitted with a Vietnam MK3 fat font insert with a matching pearl, the correct and rare genuine 24-702 crown, an open 6 & 9 DWO and a Vietnam 1665 MK2 dial with yellow creamy markers and matching RT hands.
Running on on a Swiss ETA2846 (low-beat like gen).
The gen Rolex tropic plexi is really amazing. Compared to my other reps with aftermarket plexis (even with the 1680 that has a Michael Young (CWP) tophat which is considered the next best thing after gen) I can confirm that the shape and light reflection of the gen domed plexi is second to none.
Will be sold with a used Italian style bracelet with rep 580 endlinks.
The bracelet will come fully linked."
