I originally posted this in the General discussion... Just figured out this would be the best place for Panaristis to see this post.

[h=2]Virgin Panerai 44mm case CNC project[/h]
Hi, just seeing if Panaristis are interested in a PAM case project.

I'm new to the rep world and have fallen in love with the modding of reps.
I've noticed some cases cannot take GEN crystals and it's just plain annoying.
I'm looking for guru modders who are interested in embarking on this journey on this side of the pond (CONUS).

I've been in manufacturing and product design for the last 8 years. I own a Haas Mini Mill and a rapid prototyping machine...
I would like to machine a true 1:1 PAM case (44mm family that utilizes the screw bars, one that is good for many models to build off of).
Everything would be completely threaded it will just need to be hand polished to spec and all of your parts swapped over and be able to accept a GEN crystal.

This concept came to me when I was following Thomas Caddell and his love of Submariners.
I also have the ability to engrave between the case lugs.. but need the expertise of folks in here for the proper font, depth, etc...

Sam

(btw, I'm not limited to machining out PAM cases... after this project I want to knock out some AP cases)

Kilo recommended that I do a perfectly spec'd Pre-V case...

This is awesome.

I would love to see a PAM372 in 42mm or 44mm. I know there is the Mini Fiddy, but it has the wrong lug shape and is just too thick (especially the back case -- the Fiddy has a bubble while the 372 is flat). I would bet you could probably modify the existing Jackson or Getat cases.

Reading these forums over the years, I think a 42mm PAM in any style with the 6497 movement would be bananas. I would order several!

I would be highly interested in a complete 44mm luminor case set. Since the true v4 case is gone...

Thanks
This is an interesting project

I recommend you to concentrate firstly the effort in an only project and then enlarge to other new projects

Current Luminor 44mm or Pre-V could be perfect targets

Since I am new to the Rep world but not machining... Let's pick some projects we can do.. I can do the case mods as well... but if we compile a list of what we want I can draw up cases to machine....

ALE, I totally agree... since you're our PAM moderator guru... I'll let you and the few pro guys take lead... I'm just producing the cases or mods :)

My skills, services, and equipment are at your disposal!

There's a general longing for smaller (although fantasy models) versions of the vintage and much loved huge Pams for us people with 6.7 and smaller wrists. I for one would like a properly shaped 44mm mini fiddy or a "mini" 3646

Actually Radiomir 42mm case in steel and Titan and 40mm in gold white/pink/yellow already existed in the Gen production. Have proper rep of these would be perfect...

I am on board for either of these. I second the vote for a scaled-down 3646 or 6152!

I'll follow this thread. How do we move it forward?

I think its not up to us, but for Ale and the Pam gurus to decide...

Let's make a list of PAM projects and figure out which we are working on first... Modders and Moderators will run the projects from start to completion. I'm just here to facilitate the machining process.

I know my opinion maybe doesn't count as much as the pam gurus and experts but I've always dreamt of a properly built Mini Fiddy.

youre not a fan of the Jackson Tse mini fiddy?

His case is actually pretty good.

Thank you mate,
You are right, that's what I have read online... BUT I keep seeing threads where people send these very same cases to neckyzips, PBdad or other modders to CNC them to "more gen-like standards" which, truth be told, I don't know which technical or aesthetic parameters they base their mods on. I have even asked this directly and no one knows or no one will tell me.
