Needed a strap for my PAM 009 from Davidsan so decided to make my own. Had some suitable leather from an old document foilio case.

I think it suits the watch well

Vintage strap

No plans to start up in the strap business

I enjoy making the occasional strap for a project but it makes you realise why hand made/hand stitched straps are so expensive - it can take a long time to make just one

YES ..I think we should have a section for a strap project....where everyone who made their own strap ..can post a tutorial on how to make a good strap...

I would love to learn..from my earlier post ..I said I want to make one..but till now ..still not produce even a single strap..I dont have confidence on the stiching business ..and on how to make the stiching holes first...

to cut the leathe should be easy...to make all thos liltte hole and stiching should be some problem..I donno...do tell me ...please on how to make a good strap :):D:D:D ...

and how bout show all of us...all the tools that you used to make A STRAP ...:D:D

It would be good to have all this tutorials...

cheers,
a student

Excellent work your stitching is professional and if you don't want to sell, it's totally understandable, such beautiful work isn't worth a monetary result and then someone complains how you got a section crook!!! (My example does NOT reflect in anyway your work, but the cynisism of a buyer with disposable income and little else.)

Can you maybe in the future give us an image demo of such a project? I have made heaps of homemade straps and the cutting of the leather is easy. Where I always fail in my efforts for good result is the stitching. Getting it even and clean. Your have done this in spades!

Thanks for the kind words Enzo - I have enough problems with customers in my day job (nothing whatsoever to do with watches/straps) to want to bring them into my hobby (LOL)

I can assure everyone that when you first try to make a strap there is a lot of scrap on the floor that never gets shown to anyone - in the future I may post some pics of how I do it but the FUN part is finding something suitable to make a strap from and the trial and error of discovering the best way to achieve a presentable result.

Here are a couple of pictures of some others I have made - "pictures" being the operative word as they were made using leather from vintage camera cases

good job rocket,

Not only are you a strap maker but also an expert in watch MOD making too.YOu are the frist buyer to remind me that my assembler missing the little tabs for teh movt screws.I am very surprsied to hear that you got your spare tabs and have fixed the problem promptly.Further,Rocket boguht a 201a dial from me telling me that my dial is bit too big for his watch case,he had trimmed
down the dial a bit to make a perfect fitting.

I am very excited at the quality of memebrs of this forums. :D

Amateur

Davidsan - I am just an amateur at this game.

You are the profesional - your supplier/assmbler made a few mistakes but YOU are sorting them out and keeping your customers happy. Thats all that matters and most of the people in this community understand this. There will always be those that don't but thats life

@Rocket - am totally blown away that you really can do such a great job 'at home' -impressive.
Love to see a tutorial some day mate!

@Davidsen: is the tab issue corrected on the pieces that went out in the 1st batch? I assume so as I'm impressed with how dedicated you are to improving your processes / product!

ps I can't wait to get my Davidsen 202a tomorrow (hopefully)!
