Hey guys
I've been looking with amazement at some of the recent crop of vintages pieces being built so i thought that i'd try and do one myself...
With any project there are lots of different options and this is no different.
I'm hoping to write a blog of the build, the parts used and problems encountered in the hope that it will help anyone else looking to embark on a similar project....
Stage one was finding a suitable movement... I've decided to go with Molnija as they are easy to find, cheap and as its my first project the chances of it going wrong are high. As such, i've just purchased 5 movements from the 1950/60s... the finish of these is just so much better than the newer Molnija and hopefully they have just as, if not even better build quality....
I've decided to go with two different types of Molnija, the 15 Jewel and the 18 Jewel. Both i understand will fit into vintage cases and by buying 5 movements, i can make a few watches and maybe have spare parts if required.
So here at the two 15 Jewels....
So all i need now is the case, dial, hands, crown, strap..... how hard can it be ???
