Hey guys, this post serves mainly to assist people when choosing vintage daytona configurations for builds or choosing dials. There are a lot of daytona dials out there from vietnam makers and cartel itself that are inherently incorrect in terms of configuration. I will be going through each reference with the correct dial configurations for each reference one post for Paul Newman and another for non Paul newman.
Let's get started with the NON newmans.
6239 (Steel bezel and pump pushers)
CORRECT
Essentially there are 3 widely accept dial variants for the 6239 non paul newman daytona. All found in both black and silver.
1) The dial has Rolex, Cosmograph and daytona all together at the 12 o'clock.
2) The dial has Rolex, Cosmograph at 12 and daytona wrapped around the 6 subdial
3) Double swiss underline (this dial to be correct on the watch requires a steel bezel graduated to 300 instead of the regular 200 units)
INCORRECT
There are NO 6239 dials with "OYSTER" on the dial, this is due to the gen not featuring screw down pushers.
6241 (Black acrylic bezel and pump pushers)
CORRECT
There are 2 widely accepted dial variants for NON newman daytonas 6241
1) The dial has Rolex, Cosmograph and daytona all together at the 12 o'clock.
2) The dial has Rolex, Cosmograph at 12 and daytona wrapped around the 6 subdial
INCORRECT
There are NO 6241 dials with "OYSTER" on the dial, this is due to the gen not featuring screw down pushers.
